Travel to London from the United States in the time of Covid - a few tips & tricks
I've lived in London for almost 5 years and have travelled back and forth between the United Kingdom and the United States on many occasions. As London is coming back to life, I have been getting questions from friends coming this way on all the cool things to do. Unfortunately, some things aren't as exciting - like figuring out Covid tests, UK phone data, and how to get home from the airport. But someone's gotta do it.
Here we go...
The Glam Girl open art studio, an empty flight, fresh peaches, and a Scarlet Tanager...
It’s been almost 4 full months of lockdown and my mind goes from “everything’s OK”, to “OMG, I have to get out of here!” Even though London is easing up on lockdown, the idea that me and my family are sans a car (or a UK driver’s license) for the summer and then would have to deal with public trains to go to a claustrophobic crowded beaches with rocks - let me say no. Nope, nope, nope. I’ve got other plans. But first, an open art studio!

A social media cleanse, Moby and The Official Preppy Handbook
I just did a 7 day social media cleanse. After the onslaught of the holidays, I was feeling a metallic taste in my brain from scrolling and a general feeling of overwhelm. I have a friend in California who recently announced that she was going to be deleting both of her Instagram accounts. When I messaged her and asked how we could stay in touch, she told me that she had deleted her Facebook account too. Even What’s App. So we exchanged phone numbers. It felt like 1999 all over again! I was fortunate enough to connect with her through Instagram last year, and was lucky enough to grab coffee with her in real life last summer in LA. She’s a breath of fresh California creative air and I didn’t want to lose touch. But I liked her leap of faith.
